This initiative has grown organically through nearly 20 years of direct work supporting students and families in Sevier County Schools. In 2019, a full-year work simulation and employment-readiness model was launched to help young adults with disabilities gain practical job skills and transition successfully into adulthood.
To date:
More than 75 young adults have participated in employment training and placement
A second Project SEARCH training site is opening at Dollywood
Partnerships have been established with Dollywood, Wilderness at the Smokies,
Walmart, restaurants, grocery stores, and other local employers
More than 300 community stakeholders are engaged in the organization’s growing
support network
The initiative has also contributed to local disability advocacy efforts, including emergency response planning and increased community awareness arounddisability inclusion.
